The Church of Total Hypocrisy should be the name of this church. We showed up with a profoundly disabled teenager. He plays a small, quiet video player to remain calm. The 'so called' inclusive minister - YES, the minister herself - tells us he must turn it off. Despite explanation that this is his way to calm himself and be able to worship God too, she was totally intolerant of his needs. We had to leave. 'Inclusive'..sure if you don't 'bother' us in any way, ''tolerant' ..sure...unless you have special needs that might slightly distract from a clearly egomaniacal minister who thinks her 'message' and 'performance' is more important than really caring for the needy in the pews. (This'minister' is not about Christ but her own self agrandizement). This is more than hypocritical it's heresy!

But the congregants probably pat themselves on the back about how tolerant and'helpful' they are. It's all crap folks when you allow a truly disabled person trying to worship God to be booted out of your church because he can't conform to your standards. You are blasphemers every one of you.

As I recall, Jesus met people where they were...if they needed video games...in very low volume, in order to be in His presence, I'm sure he'd have been fine with it. In fact, Jesus would have made sure that whatever this disabled child needed to know God, he got it. Not you folks. Of course those who proclaim their tolerance loudly are usually the least so. Not only should true disciples of Christ stay away from this place..but Jesus is crying knowing these people preach in His name. Bigotry and hypocrisy know no bounds...especially in the church. You that worship there, search your own souls. YOU are allowing the worst kind of bigotry and PAYING a spiritual bigot to lead your flock. She'll lead you right into hell. It is not what you SAY but what you DO in life that God judges and rewards. Shame on you. God will have the last word. Don't be surprised if lightening strikes this place....

  • The Church of the Holy Comforter is a wonderful inclusive community for those struggling with mental illness and poverty. In fact, Holy Comforter is a wonderful community for anyone.

The Friendship Center offers an art program, (including ceramics, weaving, woodworking, jewelry making, oil painting, drawing, etc.), a supported employment garden program and a comprehensive wellness and recovery program. Between 65 and 90 people come every Tuesday and Thursday for Friendship Center programming.

Holy Comforter is also a thriving worship community, with Sunday morning services, Wednesday evening services and Wednesday evening dinners open to all. My experience as an intern at Holy Comforter has been nothing but wonderful!
